Bridgetown Green School’s Committee held a ‘Fun Cycle’ as their ‘Day of Action’ for the travel flag. This was to raise awareness of cycling and the benefits for ourselves and the environment, in our community. It was held on the 10th of June and begin at 9.30 am. There was tea, coffee and cake available at the school and all were welcome to attend the school for this community get together. The children from 3rd to 6th class cycled an under 5 km route, up the Cappakea road and in a loop down Ardnataggle and up part of the Broadford to Bridgetown road to return to the school. Parents and teachers chaperoned the children and children wore a helmet and a high vis vest. We want to thank all the parents who took part and who stood on the road at different points to safeguard the children and warn motorists. The tea and cakes afterwards were well deserved! We all really enjoyed this day of cycling celebration and look forward to doing it again next year.
