The children had a treasure hunt to discover what we had grown in our garden over the summer. Thanks to Rebecca, our garden angel who keeps an eye on things! The first discovery was potatoes and there was great fun digging up spuds and much debate as to the best ways to cook them, chips, mash, crisps or boiled? The next group of children discovered carrots and parsnips. Some of them seemed to have been attacked by beasties and the dreaded carrot fly was suspected. The third set of explorers had very little to discover as much of the herbs, lettuce and greens had died off with the advent of bad weather. Nonetheless they took down the pea canes and stored them away for next year and cleared off the bed of any dead foliage and lots of nasturtium seeds. Once the beds were cleared 6th class got heavy black plastic and covered the vegetable beds for the winter.
