The student council are a group of 16 children from 4th, 5th and 6th class. We have meetings to talk about ways to help improve the school. In these meetings we’ve discussed ways to raise money for charity and ways to make the school greener.
At Christmas time the school did ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ which involved the pupils bringing in money to raise funds for Crumlin Children’s hospital and putting on a jumper for Christmas. This raised 200 euro!
Later on we started a campaign about trying to reduce single-use plastics. We encouraged everyone to bring reusable bottles and lunch boxes. A while later we did a survey to see how many people had single-use plastics, reusable bottles and reusable lunch boxes.
Our next fundraiser is to raise money for books. We are going to call it, ‘Bake for Books’. Everyone is welcome to make some cakes or buns and all the children can bring in 2 euro on the day.
