Our World book Day was a great success. All the children dressed up as their favourite character from a book. The Parent’s Council invited author, Roisin Meaney to come and talk to the children. She was very interesting and told us all how she had been a teacher and then began writing later in life and loved it so much she gave up the day job! The children asked her great questions like, ‘Where does she get her inspiration?’ to which she replied, ‘Everywhere!’. She said she just loves people watching. She has too cats at home that accompany her through her day. She has to be disciplined and sit down at her desk to write every morning and then do editing in the afternoon. She said she really enjoyed working with Judith Curtin on her book, ‘See if I care’. The children guessed correctly that she had written the boy’s part. She showed us some different book covers as her book has been published in a few countries now. We all agreed that the cover on the German version was the best.
